Americans are reporting increased rates of mental illness, with stigma and barriers to care worsening the issue. Progress can't wait. Rollins researchers are committed to increasing knowledge, preventing illness, and lending leadership on the topic.

"Mental health intersects with all aspects of public health. The more we recognize and think about mental health in the fabric of what we do, the more impact we can have in improving the public’s health."

Certificate in Mental Health

Mental health is integral to and inseparable from public health. This interdepartmental program—available to enrolled MPH/MSPH students—addresses the interface of mental health and public health and is intended to enhance the competencies of students concentrating in any of the school’s departmental programs. Students completing the program will be able to describe the epidemiologic burden of mental illness on society, apply theories and evaluate empirical evidence on determinants of mental health, design and critique interventions intended to promote mental health, and identify the sources of financing and public policies that affect mental health services.
