Infectious Diseases

While significant progress has been made, infectious diseases remain serious threats to human health. Rollins researchers work to discover solutions, prevent disease spread, and understand causes for infectious diseases around the world, including tuberculosis, bird flu, HIV/AIDS, norovirus, influenza, COVID-19, and more.
“We are developing new methods, testing them out in the real world, and providing advanced training for the next generation of mathematical modelers and infectious disease epidemiologists."

Emory/Georgia Tuberculosis Research Advancement Center
The Emory/Georgia Tuberculosis Research Advancement Center is a multi-institutional collaboration with a mission to catalyze and expand multidisciplinary research in order to improve our understanding of tuberculosis. Emory TB investigators are working to address the TB epidemic at multiple levels, including identifying the mechanisms of emerging drug resistance, improving our understanding of TB transmission and immunity, and helping to address the intersection of TB and other co-morbidities such as HIV and diabetes.
Stop Disease Spread and End Suffering
While significant progress has been made, infectious diseases remain serious threats to human health. Rollins researchers are responding to current and future disease threats through collaborative research projects and centers, epidemiological modeling work, trainings, media appearances, community partnerships, and more.
