Program Overview
The Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) in Biostatistics is designed for students with strong quantitative skills and an interest in research. It provides rigorous training in biostatistical methods and their applications, as well as coursework in epidemiology and core courses from other public health disciplines. Our mission is to develop, apply and provide training in quantitative methods that can improve human health by teasing out the information contained within modern data.
Curriculum
Required Courses
The MSPH in Biostatistics curriculum offers rigorous training in statistical methods, theory, and public health sciences and prepares students for further doctoral study or research careers.
An MSPH in BIOS requires 48 credit hours, including an applied practice experience and integrative learning experience.

MSPH graduates are well-prepared for positions in government and private health agencies, pharmaceutical industry, and research institutes. The MSPH program may also serve as solid preparation for entering a doctoral program in biostatistics.

Admissions
Admissions Requirements
In addition to the SOPHAS application, all applicants will need to submit the following materials when applying to the MSPH in Biostatistics:
- Personal statement that addresses your interest in the field of public health and your specific interest in the Rollins School of Public Health and biostatistics.
- College transcripts
- Two letters of recommendation
- Resume
The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics requires that admitted students:
- Have completed multivariate calculus (calculus III) with a grade of B+ or better
- Had an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Submit GRE scores in the 50th percentile or higher (may be waved if you have a PhD in a comparable field)
