Non-Degree Seeking Students

Non-degree courses are an affordable and convenient opportunity for students to take select public health classes without the commitment of enrolling in a degree program. We refer to such students as special standing students. Special standing students may enroll in courses of interest if there is space available in the course and their academic backgrounds meet course prerequisites.

Emory employees should contact human resources for questions regarding their courtesy scholarship eligibility. The courtesy scholarship application will become available once the employee has submitted an application for admission.

Resources and Supplies
Books and Supplies
Books for all courses can be purchased at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore located in the Oxford Road Building.
Information Technology
Special standing students will have Emory email addresses, access to Canvas (learning management system), as well as access to online library resources. All students, including non-degree seeking students, are required to have a laptop for use during class.
Degree-Seeking Transition
Applying for a Program
Admission as a special standing student does not guarantee acceptance into the degree-seeking category. Special standing students who decide to apply as degree-seeking candidates must complete and are bound by the same application/admission process as other Rollins degree-seeking applicants. This includes the degree-seeking fall admission policy as outlined in the catalog and on the Admissions section of the website. Therefore, should you decide to apply as a degree-seeking student, you will need to apply online through SOPHAS, the centralized application service utilized by Rollins.
Transfer of Credits to a Degree-Seeking Program
If a special standing student decides to apply to a Rollins degree program and is accepted as a degree-seeking candidate, up to 9 credits taken as a non-degree seeking student may be transferred to the degree-seeking status. Individual course credits will transfer as long as the credits fulfill program degree requirements.
