"For a long time, we’ve thought about the contributors to poor breast cancer outcomes, such as the genetic, biologic, health care, or individual-level factors on their own. Our BRIDGE research team, made up of Rollins postdocs, doctoral students, and faculty, is centered around understanding how a combination of things work together to influence a person’s risk of being diagnosed with or dying from breast cancer. This is important because we treat people, not exposures or genes."

"The response to the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the central role of outbreak analytics for informing public health decision-making. But, despite rapid advances in the field, the pandemic exposed the wide gap that remains between analytical methodology and the on-the-ground realities of an emergency. The Emory Center for Infectious Disease Modeling & Analytics and Training Hub works closely with the CDC and community partners to design, implement, and refine new and enhanced analytical tools, to generate critical novel data streams and provide training for multiple levels of the infectious disease epidemiology and modeling community."

"We need to be able to deliver high-quality and affordable long-term care [for older adults]. Our nation is in a crisis because the primary source of care is family caregivers, and they are generally under-recognized and under-appreciated. At the same time, we have a major shortage of direct care workers—like personal care aides, home health aides, and certified nursing assistants. Making sure that we have a pipeline of workers who feel confident and are adequately compensated to deliver dementia-competent care is a major priority for public health."
