Online Part-Time MPH in Health Policy

Rollins offers a completely online flexible part-time MPH in Health Policy. Our part-time MPH program is designed for professionals and students who want a flexible learning option whether working internationally or domestically. Students will take asynchronous courses, which provide an interactive experience with specific assignment due dates, but you get to choose how many courses you take each semester to accommodate your schedule.

The online part-time MPH program allows you to earn your MPH from a top school of public health on a schedule that meets your needs—and from anywhere in the world.

Program Overview

The MPH in Health Policy is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of how federal, state, and local policies shape the U.S. health care system. In addition to core courses, students in this program take a concentrated set of courses in a particular field (e.g., vulnerable populations, health outcomes).

Outcomes

  • All students gain a broad set of practical skills and understanding suitable for success in the field of health policy.
  • Graduates are well qualified to practice in the private health care industry, nonprofit sector, and government.

Program Structure

  • Part-time programs are structured around 5-6 credit hours per semester with a total of 42 credit hours to complete the degree.
  • Our structure allows flexibility to increase or decrease the number of credits you take each semester to accommodate your schedule and still complete the degree within the required time limit of 5 years.

Admissions Requirements

  • No GRE required
  • SOPHAS Application
  • College Transcripts
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Personal Statement, including your interest in the field of public health and your specific interest in the Rollins School of Public Health
  • Resume

Curriculum

The online part-time MPH in Health Policy curriculum requires a total of 42 credit hours, including:

  • The completion of a capstone course (HPM 575) and related capstone paper
  • 200 hours working in an Applied Practice Experience (APE)

Capstone

The capstone course explores advanced tools of policy analysis and requires students to conduct health policy analyses of contemporary issues. Students will learn how to use the tools of economics, statistics, and decision analysis to evaluate options for solving a health policy issue and recommend a course of action through a final capstone paper and presentation.

APE

An Applied Practice Experience (APE) is a unique opportunity for graduate students to integrate and apply practical skills and training learned through course work and prior experiences in a professional public health environment.

  • APEs may be completed in your current work setting in cases when you are able to expand your current work responsibilities to fit the APE requirements (program approval required).
  • All RSPH graduate students are required to complete an APE of at least 200 work hours in a public health agency, institution, or community under the supervision of site supervisor and the guidance of the Department.
  • Although there are no credits associated with the APE requirement, the completion of the requirement is noted on the student’s transcript.
