A Message from the Chair

I am a nutritionist by training, and my research and teaching interests are motivated by a deep commitment to women’s health. I employ a range of methodologies to address the challenges of maternal and child health and nutrition across the life course, both in the U.S. and global contexts. Emory is one of the best places in the country—and in the world—for me to conduct this work, and I believe it is equally one of the best places to pursue your MPH.

Beyond these extraordinary attributes, I am even more inspired by the aspirations that shape the culture of the Hubert Department of Global Health. This is a department that actively promotes justice and equity through rigorous science, impactful teaching, and grounded public health practice—anchored in a fundamental belief in the right to health for all populations. We foster a community of inclusion that embraces the diverse perspectives our students bring into classrooms and research groups alike.

If you’re considering joining us, know that you’ll be stepping into a department that is dynamic, collaborative, and driven by purpose. Our faculty, staff, and students are not only committed to addressing complex global health challenges—they’re also deeply invested in creating a supportive, engaging environment where your voice matters, your growth is encouraged, and your contributions have a real impact. We hope you’ll choose to be part of this incredible community. I look forward to the possibility of welcoming you!
