In Memoriam

Ericka N. Brewer 16PH passed away September 6, 2019. A native of Atlanta, Ericka earned Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-Med from The Fort Valley State University, and then her Master of Public Health, Prevention Science from Rollins. She worked as a Clinical Research Associate, and was co-owner of The K.E.Y. Event Planning Company. Ericka was a lover of fashion and enjoyed singing, dancing, and listening to music.

Dollie Durrett Daniels 91PH passed away on September 17, 2019, at the age of 89. After teaching kindergarten for 10 years, Dollie received her B.A. from Eckerd College, and her master’s in public health from Rollins where she also worked as the Director of Graduate Studies and Associate Faculty in Epidemiology. She retired from Emory after more than 20 years of teaching and providing administrative, academic, career, and personal counseling to students. An avid writer, Dollie authored A Shared Dream: The Genesis of Academic Public Health, the history of the Rollins School of Public Health. She also wrote Aloha Midway Island: A Memoir; Joseph Arthur Durrett: The Man from Middle Creek (1898–1999); and Whitney Brook Farm (a children’s book). She enjoyed collecting antiques and first-edition books, and was a talented seamstress/needlework artist. Outside of work, Daniels was the mother to four children, a wife, and a grandmother.

Susannah Downing Harker (née Gloor) 11C 14PH died unexpectedly due to complications from childbirth on October 28, 2019. After earning her MPH in global health, Sue began working for CARE USA. She is survived by her husband and newborn son.
