Program Overview
The MSPH in Data Science in Environmental Health trains students to apply advanced computational and statistical methods to address urgent environmental health challenges. Students receive rigorous training in data science alongside specialized coursework in environmental health, preparing them to lead data-driven solutions in public health research and practice.
Curriculum
Required Courses
The MSPH in Data Science in Environmental Health requires 48 total credit hours of coursework, an applied practice experience, and an integrative learning experience. These requirements must be met while maintaining an overall GPA of at least 2.7.
Admissions
Admissions Requirements
Requirements for admission to the MSPH in Data Science in Environmental Health:
- Completion of a four-year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent
- Completion of college-level calculus I, biology, and chemistry (applicants may be admitted without these classes but will be asked to complete them prior to matriculation)
- Work or academic experience in the health field and programming experiences are highly desirable but not required
In addition to the SOPHAS application, all applicants will need to submit the following materials when applying:
- Personal statement
- College transcripts
- Two letters of recommendation
- List of research, work, volunteer, and honors experiences
The GRE is not required for admission and will not be considered as part of the application for admission.
Funding
Funding Your MSPH in Data Science
All students who apply by the January 5, 2026, priority deadline and are admitted will receive a guaranteed $30,000 funding package. Applications must be completed and verified with all supporting documents by the priority deadline.
This package includes:
- A $25,000 tuition scholarship
- A $5,000 applied practice experience award
Guaranteed funding is available as long as funds remain and applies to fall 2026 admissions for the term in which a student begins the program. Students who qualify for more than one institutional award will automatically receive the award of the highest value. To maintain their funding, students simply need to remain in good academic standing.
Guaranteed funding is available to full-time students only. Employees receiving Emory tuition benefits are not eligible.
