Allison Brown

Allison Brown, PhD, MPH, is the Associate Director of the Office of Laboratory Strategies and Analytics (OLSA) in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion at CDC. Dr. Brown’s team leads CDC’s Antibiotic Resistance Laboratory Network activities focused on detection and characterization of novel resistance in healthcare-associated infections. OLSA strategizes the deployment and implementation of laboratory and reporting capacities to and among domestic and international partners, as well as the use of testing results to inform AR containment activities. Dr. Brown was previously senior epidemiologist and Deputy Team Lead for the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System, focusing on the surveillance and epidemiology of antimicrobial resistant enteric infections. Prior to her work at CDC, Dr. Brown served as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer, working domestically and internationally on foodborne and waterborne diseases. She earned her PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, an MPH in Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases from Yale, and a BA in Biology from the University of Virginia.
