Tatiana  Aguilar

Tatiana is a doctoral student in the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. Tatiana's interests include school-based violence prevention, intimate partner violence, family violence, suicide prevention, and youth mental health. Her mission as a public health professional is to use education and research to improve violence prevention efforts tailored for youth, families, and communities most impacted by health inequities in the U.S. and Latin America/Carribean. She strives to achieve this by leading community-based, strengths-based, and upstream violence prevention efforts that are culturally-relevant and tailored to the needs of diverse communities. Tatiana is currently working under the mentorship of Dr. Briana Woods-Jaeger, where she utilizes community-based participatory research to empower youth to be leaders in violence prevention efforts in their communities.

Tataiana completed her undergraduate training at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education where she focused on social emotional learning programming and school-based violence prevention research under the mentorship of Dr. Dorothy Espelage. After graduating with a degree in Human Development & Family studies, Tatiana pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Department of Health Behavior at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. Prior to completing her MPH, Tatiana served as a Research Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Department of Violence Prevention where she conducted research on the intersection of intimate partner violence and suicidality among adults in the U.S. under the mentorship of Dr. Ayana Stanley.
