
James Jiada Zhan, MS, RD, is a Ph.D. Student in the Nutrition and Health Sciences program at Emory University. He is a highly motivated nutrition scientist with a strong interest in chronic diseases, especially type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancers. He has a variety of research experiences that range from clinical trials to large observational studies, as he was the first author of an RCT about magnesium biomarkers published in Nutrients and was the research coordinator and visiting researcher at Cleveland Clinic for conducting a 25,000-participant retrospective cohort study about COVID-19 and pregnancy. Additionally, he won the 2nd prize of the Health and Human Sciences College Undergraduate Research Oral Presentation and completed the Nutrition Science Honors Program at Purdue University.
Besides his research experience, he is also a Registered Dietitian who received rigorous nutrition training in the US. He completed his dietetic internship at Case Western Reserve University with several internship sites, including Cleveland Clinic, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and St. Vincent Medical Center Diabetes Center. He is active in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for several roles, including being a guideline reviewer, a team leader for the research support group in the ANDHII, and a representative in the COVID-19 Task Force.
