Emory Rollins School of Public Health

Jared Bailey is a dedicated advocate for environmental health and equity, with a passion deeply rooted in the intricate connection between biology, community well-being, and the environment. From his early exposure to science, Jared's journey as an urban farmer fostered his understanding of how life's diverse units impact our existence. Through collaborations with Cornell University’s Lab of Ornithology and grassroots efforts in Atlanta’s underserved neighborhoods, Jared's commitment to community science blossomed. His academic pursuits led him to become a biology major at Morehouse College and a graduating Master of Public Health student at Morehouse School of Medicine.

Jared's interest in health equity research thrived during a fellowship with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2021, Jared received the Health and Human Services Public Service Star Award from the NCIP while at CDC. Exploring social determinants of health and environmental exposures, he discovered the profound influence of historical factors on vulnerable communities, particularly in relation to chronic diseases like cancer. Guided by a vision of effecting change, Jared's journey included roles as a research associate in women's health, delving into maternal mortality studies and breast cancer mortality research. This experience galvanized his resolve to address health disparities in underserved communities.
