Erica Kocher is a doctoral student at the Emory Global Diabetes Research Center. She received a BA in Sociology from Yale University, and an MPH in Chronic Disease Epidemiology from the Yale School of Public Health. She is currently a student in the Nutrition and Health Sciences doctoral program at the Emory University Laney Graduate School.
Her research focuses on strenghtening healthcare services for people with noncommunicable diseases in low and middle income countries. This work includes using interdisciplinary methods to generate policy relevant evidence on the burden of disease, socio-ecological context for intervention, and effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of program implementation. In addition, she is interested in understanding how evidence is used by decision makers to inform policy design and adoption. Her current areas of focus include evaluating health system interventions for diabetes and hypertension in India and exploring integration of noncommunicable disease services for people with HIV/AIDS in Kenya.
