Amanda  Dorsey

Amanda Dorsey is a PhD student at Emory University, interested in studying the epidemiology of birth defects and child development. She has multisectoral experience in this field, including in academic research centers, international and domestic non-profits, and local governments. Most recently, she has served as an epidemiologist on the Prenatal Substance Exposure Surveillance and Research team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities. 

Prior to beginning her PhD at Emory, Amanda completed her MPH in Global Epidemiology at Emory. Here, her research interests in birth defects and developmental disabilities solidified through internships at the Emory Center for Spina Bifida Prevention, the CDC Lifespan Surveillance and Research Team, and ReachAnother Foundation, which supports neural tube defects prevention, treatment, and aftercare in Ethiopia.
