Sofia Filippa

Sofia Filippa is a doctoral student, Woodruff Fellow and Centennial Scholar in the Department of Behavioral, Social and Health Education Sciences (BSHES) working under the mentorship of Dr. Whitney Rice. Her interests are in sexual and reproductive health and justice, with a focus on abortion access and care among adolescents and young people in clinic and community settings in the U.S. and Latin America. She currently supports a variety of projects as a Doctoral Fellow at the Center for Reproductive Health Research in the Southeast (RISE). 

Prior to her doctoral studies, Sofia completed a BA in International Relations with a minor in Creative Writing at Stanford University and a MPH in BSHES at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, where she also obtained a Certificate in Maternal and Child Health. Sofia has also worked as a researcher at Ibis Reproductive Health and Planned Parenthood Global conducting projects focused on self-managed medication abortion care, abortion quality of care, and policy impacts on abortion access.
