I am a performance-driven MD with an MPH in Health Services Administration, a PhD in Biochemistry, Board Certi?cation in Public Health and Preventive Medicine, certi?cation in Applied Epidemiology as a CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (“EIS”) O?cer, and more than 40 years of successful professional experience that includes Health Services leadership, management, performance evaluation, teaching, and mentoring skills in Preventive Medicine, Public Health, Communicable and Non-Communicable Disease Prevention, Surveillance and Control, and Environmental & Occupational Safety & Health assignments. I have published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers in high-impact journals (see list, below), illustrating my experience in investigating and controlling epidemic outbreaks; managing personnel and six-figure budgets for Public Health projects and programs; evaluating the application of AI in Public Health practice; communicating with decision-makers about the importance of Health Literacy & Health Equity; teaching and mentoring graduate and post-graduate students in three universities (Emory, George Washington, and California State University); developing and administering Public-Private Partnerships; strengthening systems for Public Health and Pharmacological Surveillance; leading US State--and County-level training for Preparedness and Response for Emergencies; and strengthening Health Systems Development, and Capacity-building in the USA, Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. I have had extensive experience in monitoring, evaluating, and recommending Lean Six Sigma-based improvements in the design, management, performance, quality, and results of the public health, medical, nursing, pharmaceutical, and laboratory policies, programs, systems, and practices of USA states (Florida and California), and Ministries of Health in numerous low-, middle- and high-income countries. I have had highly successful high-profile assignments that included one-on-one briefings for the US President, the Director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and provision of technical assistance for other top leaders of US and international government organizations, universities, and non-government community-based and faith-based partners, as well as with bilateral agencies (the US Agency for International Development/ USAID and CDC), multilateral agencies (the World Health Organization/WHO, the UN Children’s Fund/UNICEF, the UN Development Program/UNDP, the Asian Development Bank/ADB, and the World Bank), non-government agencies (Doctors Without Borders), and private sector agencies (Singapore Health Services Pte Ltd, Wyeth and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, and Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals).
