Bio

Our lab combines tools from environmental microbiology, epidemiology, and genomics to understand how the food we eat impacts human health and disease. We are especially interested in the role of the gut microbiome in mediating these effects. Current projects are focused on:

- food-borne transmission of antibiotic-resistant pathogens in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in wet markets

- the effects of diet on the gut microbiome, including early-life feeding practices and ultra-processed foods

- exploring the joint effects of chemical mixtures on gut bacteria and the antibiotic resistance genes they harbor (i.e., the resistome)

For a list of up to date publications, see Google Scholar. To learn more about ongoing projects or to explore training opportunities, check out the Nadimpalli Lab Website.
