
Bio
Mary C. White, ScD, has broad experience in the conduct and translation of epidemiologic research for public health practice. She retired from federal service in March 2023. As a branch chief in CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control, Dr. White directed a program of applied research to address national priorities in cancer prevention and control. She also held positions at the National Center for Environmental Health at CDC, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, the International Labor Organization, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Dr. White has published and lectured on topics related to the prevention and control of cancer and other chronic diseases, the risks associated with exposure to air pollution and hazardous substances, and the interpretation of scientific evidence for public health. She has served as an advisor and speaker for multiple organizations and received numerous awards, including the Emory Rollins School of Public Health Teaching and Mentoring Community Award.
