Dae Hee Han

Bio
Dr. Han is a behavioral scientist specializing in substance and tobacco use and cancer prevention among adolescents and young adults. His research program focuses on: the behavioral epidemiology of tobacco use; tobacco regulatory science through human laboratory experiments; identification of substance use risk profiles using machine learning; analysis of drug policies and programs; and the comorbidity between substance use and psychiatric disorders. Drawing on multidisciplinary training and experience, Dr. Han employs a broad range of quantitative methodologies, spanning traditional approaches to modern analytical techniques, to deepen the understanding of complex substance use behaviors in young populations.
Dr. Han is the Principal Investigator of an FDA/NIDA-funded K99/R00 grant examining how variations in nicotine concentration and pH in non-medicinal oral nicotine pouches affect user experience and abuse liability among young adults, using a human laboratory experimental design. He recently completed the K99 phase at the University of Southern California and has commenced the R00 phase at Emory University. In parallel, he is finalizing an FDA/NCI-funded pilot project, awarded through the University of Michigan Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science, which examines the impact of oral nicotine product use on e-cigarette behaviors among young populations using a causal inference approach integrated with machine learning. In addition to his research program, Dr. Han contributes to the field as an associate editor fellow for Drug and Alcohol Dependence and as a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs.
