Bio

Dr. Chamberlain is an infectious disease epidemiologist with a background in biodefense, public health preparedness and public health practice. Her research interests are in preparedness, vaccine promotion, vaccine effectiveness and HIV prevention. She currently serves as co-PI of the Emory Center for Infectious Disease Modeling and Analytics Training Hub (CIDMATH).

Dr. Chamberlain is most passionate about connecting academics with state and local public health practitioners and leveraging academia to support public health practitioners. In addition to directing the Emory Center for Public Health Preparedness and Research, she serves RSPH as Director of Research and Practice Relations with the Georgia Department of Public Health. In this role, she helps faculty across Rollins connect with practitioners to conduct more impactful and collaborative research. She also helps practitioners interested in connecting with Rollins faculty, staff, students and programs.

Dr. Chamberlain has consulted with numerous district health departments, including the Fulton County Board of Health for 7 years. From 2020-2023, she directed the Emory COVID-19 Response Collaborative (ECRC), the mission of which was to put Rollins faculty, staff and students into the service of health department partners working to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Georgia. As part of the ECRC, she founded the Rollins Epidemiology Fellowship Program which has placed over 60 early career epidemiologists across Georgia’s 18 health districts and at DPH since 2020. She continues to guide the fellowship program, think about ways to improve it, and recruit new cohorts of fellows every spring.

In August 2024, Dr. Chamberlain became the inaugural director of the DrPH program at Rollins. She teaches EPI: 564 Public Health Preparedness and Practice in the fall semester and serves as the academic advisor for the Emory Student Outbreak Response Team (SORT).
