Bio

Dr. Aaron Siegler is a Professor of Epidemiology at Emory University. His infectious disease research focuses on public health impact through implementation science and clinical trials. He is the lead investigator on a project that developed a national database of PrEP providers, disseminated through PrEPLocator.org, a resource that has been accessed by over 1 million users. He led clinical trials that provided data allowing for FDA 510(k) approval of fitted condoms and the first FDA approval of condoms for anal sex, a De Novo application. His recent research includes NIH-funded studies developing HIV prevention services platforms for men who have sex with men in China and Peru. He has led clinical trials in telemedicine PrEP, and continues research in this space through collaborations with large telePrEP providers. His surveillance research characterizes the scale-up of PrEP in the United States, assessing disparities in outcomes and the opportunities to improve outcomes through HIV prevention policies and programs.
A sample of Dr. Siegler’s current research portfolio is below:

1R01AI200775, NIH/NIAID, Siegler (PI)
Title: Improving telePrEP Initiation and retention outcomes in the US: The MISTR+ Study
Description: Create a learning healthcare system through MOST optimization trials to improve telemedicine HIV PrEP outcomes of care initiation, retention, and re-engagement in the United States.

R01AI181799, NIH/NIAID, Siegler (contact PI), Sullivan (MPI)
Title: Establishing PREMISE: A PrEP Epidemiology, Modeling, and Surveillance System
Description: Conduct a series of natural experiments to determine the impact of different policies and programs on PrEP initiation and retention in care.

1UG3AI191248-01, NIH/NIAID, Siegler (contact PI), Duerr (MPI), Sanchez (MPI)
Title: The Eleccion Cohort: Developing and testing a scalable, platform agnostic digital intervention in Peru.
Description: Developing a cohort of men for assessment of incident HIV in Peru, informing a low-touch digital intervention that will be tested in a randomized trial with outcomes relating to HIV prevention service use.

#5482, ViiV Healthcare Grant, Siegler (PI)
Title: Linking patients to injectable PrEP providers: Developing and disseminating a geolocated database of injectable PrEP providing clinics in the United States.
Description: For injectable PrEP, there is no user-friendly mechanism to identify providers; the addition of clinics that provide injectable PrEP to a geolocated directory (PrEPLocator.org ) will be a resource to help community members access injectable PrEP care and allow for analyses regarding geospatial access to injectable PrEP.
