Community Well-Being, Fairness, and Respect
Integrate Well-Being, Fairness, and Respect
We will center community well-being, fairness, and respect in our research, practice, operations, and educational activities.
Public health research and practice never stop evolving. Amid the challenges of our day, the faculty, staff, and students of Rollins must continue to push for the well-being of all the communities we work with and for—inside and outside of our institution. As we build an intellectually diverse and respectful work and learning environment within Rollins, we have prioritized health equity-centered research and practice in local and global communities—focusing on social justice, health disparities, and cultural humility—throughout our new five-year strategic plan.
Over the next five years, we will create a school-wide accountability structure to assist in building and evaluating an academic community that values cooperation, mutual respect, productive dialogue, and fairness. This structure will involve setting and communicating minimum community well-being and belonging goals and standards for all departments, implementing a culture and system of evaluation for leadership and managers, increasing visibility and support for well-being and belonging- focused work, and fostering a culture of shared responsibility for well-being goals and outcomes.
Our community well-being and belonging objectives are intricately connected with every other goal in our strategic plan—and are critical to the plan’s success and to our strength as a school of public health.
