Bio

Rodrigo Puentes is a PhD student in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. His background in statistical methods and epidemiological study designs has fostered the foundational tools to further explore the impacts of climate variability on health. During his first two years at Emory, he has broadened his perspective as a researcher through the guidance of faculty and mentors. Rodrigo has leveraged his participation in international conferences by presenting his ongoing work and reflecting on his experiences to the student community. His deep ties to Latin America and its people have shaped the way he views inequities, which have served as a primary driver throughout his academic career. Rodrigo’s interests align with the principles of environmental justice, focusing his research on addressing social disparities in underrepresented and marginalized populations.
