Bio
Kristin M. Wall, PhD, MS is Associate Professor with Tenure in the Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health and Director of the Rwanda Zambia Health Research Group (RZHRG), one of Emory’s longest-standing global health research partnerships. Through The Wall Lab, she has spent over 20 years building a global and domestic research program at the intersection of infectious disease epidemiology, reproductive health, and implementation science, with a sustained focus on underserved and high-risk populations.
Dr. Wall’s research integrates epidemiology, implementation science, and health economics to design and evaluate high-impact, affordable interventions across the HIV, sexually transmitted infection (STI), and reproductive health continuum. Her postpartum family planning program in Rwanda has reached more than 32,000 women, achieved dramatic increases in long-acting contraceptive uptake, and was endorsed by the Rwandan Ministry of Health for routine national implementation in 2025. Her female genital schistosomiasis (FGS) program, spanning screening algorithms, a rapid antibody test developed with CDC colleagues, and AI-assisted imaging, informed her role on the WHO Diagnostic Technical Advisory Group (2022–2024). As co-investigator on the first randomized controlled trial establishing Ebola vaccine safety and immunogenicity in pregnant women, she contributed to a landmark Nature Medicine paper (2025) and revised international guidance. Domestically, her NIH R01 MATCH-POINT trial at Grady Memorial Hospital implements point-of-care STI testing in underserved pregnant populations to reduce congenital syphilis and STI-associated preterm birth, recognized by the Georgia Department of Health as a model for equitable STI testing strategies.
Dr. Wall has authored over 136 peer-reviewed publications and is co-author of Fundamentals of Epidemiology (Springer, 2024). She is PI or MPI on 16 awards from NIH, CDC, Gates Foundation, UK DFID, and PEPFAR. She has mentored more than 50 MPH, PhD, and postdoctoral trainees and received the Rollins School Departmental Teaching Award in 2024.
