Bio
Dr. Rhodes leads and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams on studies that are building the evidence base on the implementation and impact of virtual and hybrid in-person/virtual care models for pregnant and postpartum women in real-world settings. A central focus of her research is integrating community-based health workforces, particularly doulas and community health workers, into care that promotes maternal cardiometabolic health, such as breastfeeding support, remote medical monitoring for postpartum hypertension and mental health conditions, and produce prescription programs that improve food security and maternal nutrition. In these models, doulas and community health workers play a key role in promoting person-centered, respectful, and culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
Her research and capacity building efforts have been funded by the NIH, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, American Heart Association, World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations World Food Programme, Elevance Health Foundation, and others.
Her research has been featured and cited in National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and WHO reports and implementation guidance.
