Jazib Gohar, MD, PhD

Bio

Jazib Gohar is a sixth-year DO-PhD candidate at Michigan State University excited to serve his first term on the Rollins Alumni Board. Gohar was raised in Skokie, IL, and graduated from Northwestern University in 2018 with a BA in Biological Sciences, Economics, and Global Health. After falling in love with public health in his junior year of college, he decided to pursue the field further and ventured down to Atlanta to attend Rollins. He graduated from Rollins in 2020 with an MPH in Global Epidemiology, with Certificates in Socio-Contextual Determinants of Health and Genetic/Molecular Epidemiology. He subsequently headed back to the Midwest to join Michigan State University's DO-PhD program. Gohar defended his dissertation titled "Associations Between Area-Level Deprivation and Preterm Birth in the Biosocial Impact of Black Births (BIBB) Study" in May 2024 and is now entering his final year of medical school. He will be applying to residency programs in Chicago this fall, and hopes to continue his training in hematology/oncology after residency.

In his spare time, Gohar loves to garden, cook, travel, attend concerts, teach himself how to DJ, and train for upcoming marathons. He is a four-time marathoner for the American Cancer Society and will be running the Sydney, Chicago, and NYC Marathons this fall.
