Message sent on behalf of Dean M. Daniele Fallin

Your Year Of Opportunity

What do you hope to achieve this school year? We hope you’re thinking big—because we have a lot of opportunities planned for the year ahead, including:

  • Revamping Rollins Grand Rounds. In this school-wide lecture series, you will get to hear from world-renowned public health experts throughout the school year.
  • Launching our new Strategic Plan. More than 300 faculty, staff, and students worked together to develop a new five-year strategic plan for Rollins that will shape our future.
  • Hosting our first staff-focused State of the School. Staff will hear from me about the state of the school in a new engaging, interactive format.
  • Bringing together all Woodruff Health Sciences students. In a new interprofessional education initiative called IPE-ACTS, Emory’s first-year public health, medical, nursing, and physical therapy students will team up to learn, collaborate, and compete to address a critical health challenge that Atlanta communities face.
  • Prioritizing public health communication. Strengthening science communication is a core component of our new strategic plan and is critical to the work that we do—be on the lookout for new opportunities and initiatives in the year ahead.

I love this time of year. The excitement and passion for public health among our new and returning students is remarkable and gives me renewed inspiration for the work that we do.

For our new students, welcome to Rollins! I hope you have a thrilling first day diving into public health.

For our returning students, I hope this year propels you to the next level in your public health journey.

To our faculty and staff, thank you for getting Rollins ready for today and I hope this is our best school year yet.
