Fall 2025

Celebrating a Successful 2O36 Campaign

Dear Friends,

This fall, the Rollins School of Public Health celebrates three significant milestones: 50 years of public health at Emory, the 35th anniversary of the founding of our school, and the very successful completion of Emory’s 2O36 campaign. This is also the year we received a No.2 ranking among U.S. schools and programs of public health.

We’ve grown from a very small master’s program established in the medical school in 1975 to a globally renowned leader in public health education and research. In 1989, the Master of Public Health program became a separate division in the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center. The following year, the program was elevated to school status. Rollins is the only new school established at Emory in over 100 years and the newest by far of those ranked in the highest echelons of schools of public health.

As friends, faculty, staff, students, and alumni, you have played a vital role in our success. Emory University surpassed the $4 billion 2O36 campaign goal late last spring. Through your remarkable generosity, Rollins has received gifts totaling over $350 million–far exceeding our $230 million goal.

We enjoy the reputation of having the best physical facilities of any school of public health in the nation. A magnificent gift from the O. Wayne Rollins Foundation led to the completion of the stellar R. Randall Rollins Building, funded and completed during the 2O36 campaign. It includes named conference and classroom locations made possible through gifts to endowed scholarship funds. An alumni-driven Seating Our Future campaign resulted in 100 seats being named in R. Randall Rollins Building classrooms.

Supporting students will always be a high priority. Our ability to award scholarships to a growing number of MPH and PhD students is a testament to your belief in our mission and the critical role our over 13,000 alumni play in over 100 countries. Over 40 scholarship funds have been created during the 2O36 campaign. Thousands of gifts from our alumni and friends have enabled us to support scholarships, global field experiences, and the Rollins Earn and Learn work-study program, as well as lectures, awards, and research programs.

At the outset of the 2036 campaign, former Emory University President Greg Fenves challenged each school to double their number of endowed faculty. Through the transformative $100 million gift from the O. Wayne Rollins Foundation and generous gifts from Eugene and Rose Gangarosa, Donna Brogan, Michael Kutner, Rhona Applebaum, and Mark Peabody, Rollins has more than met this goal.

Faculty-initiated private support for research accounts for a significant portion of our campaign success. Our exceptional faculty attract significant private support from the world’s largest philanthropies. In addition to securing major funding from foundations and corporations, Rollins faculty are the most generous of any school at Emory.

While these are challenging times for research universities, particularly those whose mission like ours is dedicated to improving health, preventing disease, and saving lives, our commitment to advancing health around the world remains our guiding light.

My gratitude for the many ways you have supported the Rollins School of Public Health knows no bounds. Your continued belief in and support of our work inspires me every day. My exceptional team and I are more committed than ever to moving us forward as we embrace a future where the Rollins School of Public Health is recognized as second to none.

With my heartfelt thanks and all best wishes,

Kathryn
