Maya Thirkill

Maya Thirkill, MPH, is a doctoral student in the Department of Epidemiology at Emory University. Her research interests are at the intersection of social and reproductive epidemiology. Ms. Thirkill’s research explores the bidirectional relationship between social factors and reproductive experiences, especially during the perinatal period. She is dually interested in studying global perinatal practices and peer-to-peer healing-centered interventions. Ms. Thirkill is dedicated to expanding participation in scientific research and serves as a health educator and science writer. Ms. Thirkill’s professional vision is to advance the health of women and girls from marginalized communities through the production and dissemination of science that influences political and social improvements.
