Online Part-Time MPH in Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences

Rollins offers a completely online flexible part-time MPH in Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences. Our part-time MPH program is designed for professionals and students who want to learn at their own pace whether working internationally or domestically.

The online part-time MPH program allows you to earn your MPH from a top school of public health on a schedule that meets your needs—and from anywhere in the world.

Program Overview

Students in the online part-time Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Rollins receive intensive training on theories and methods of health promotion, planning and design of culturally informed interventions, program evaluation and data analysis, and principles of community engagement.

Outcomes

  • All students will gain a strong scientific and methodological foundation to inform the development and implementation of effective health promotion programs locally, nationally, and globally.
  • Graduates of the MPH program work in a variety of public health research and practice settings, including in the public sector, healthcare and service delivery settings, consulting, private industry, and academia.

Program Structure

  • Part-time programs are structured around 5-6 credit hours per semester with a total of 42 credit hours to complete the degree.
  • Our structure allows flexibility to increase or decrease the number of credits you take each semester to accommodate your schedule and still complete the degree within the required timeframe.

Curriculum

The online part-time MPH in Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences curriculum is a total of 42 credit hours, including:

  • Core BSHES curriculum courses
  • Core RSPH courses in biostatistics, epidemiology, global health, environmental health, and health policy and management
  • A capstone project
  • 200 hours working in an Applied Practice Experience (APE)

Integrative Learning Experience: Capstone Project

Capstone projects allow students to explore a topic of interest in depth—possibly expanding a course project or applied practice experience into new dimensions—to increase practical skills and experience, sharpen presentation skills, gain peer feedback, and increase career development.

APE

An Applied Practice Experience (APE) is a unique opportunity for graduate students to integrate and apply practical skills and training learned through course work and prior experiences in a professional public health environment.

  • APEs may be completed in your current work setting in cases when you are able to expand your current work responsibilities to fit the APE requirements (program approval required).
  • All RSPH graduate students are required to complete an APE of at least 200 work hours in a public health agency, institution, or community under the supervision of site supervisor and the guidance of the Department.
  • Although there are no credits associated with the APE requirement, the completion of the requirement is noted on the student’s transcript.
