Program Overview
The MSPH in Data Science, Global Health Concentration trains tomorrow's public health leaders to apply data science techniques to tackle global health challenges. Students will gain hands-on experience in data-driven public health practice and become professionals who can critically analyze and translate complex data into actionable global strategies.
Curriculum
Required Courses
This program's curriculum emphasizes a nuanced understanding of the roles and limitations of data in shaping global health programs, policies, and strategies. Students will critically examine how data can support—but also constrain—decision-making, particularly in complex and resource-limited settings.
The MSPH in Data Science, Global Health Concentration requires 48 total credit hours of coursework, an applied practice experience, and an integrative learning experience. These requirements must be met while maintaining an overall GPA of at least 2.7.
Admissions
Admissions Requirements
Requirements for admission to the MSPH in Data Science, Global Health Concentration:
- Completion of a four-year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent
- Completion of one semester of calculus prior to matriculation
- Demonstrate strong academic potential with an interest in data science and global health; while prior experience in public health or programming is desirable, it is not required.
In addition to the SOPHAS application, all applicants will need to submit the following materials when applying:
- Official transcripts
- Personal statement articulating interest in public health, data science, and global health
- Two letters of recommendation
- Resume or CV
The GRE is not required for admission and will not be considered as part of the application for admission.
