Bio
Jiada (James) Zhan, MS, RD, is a Ph.D. candidate in Nutrition and Health Sciences at Emory University.
James is a passionate data scientist specializing in metabolomics and its relation to precision nutrition and chronic diseases such as Alzheimer's and obesity. His research includes:
- He has developed of the dietaryindex R package, which is the first comprehensive bioinformatics tool designed for dietary index analysis.
- Furthermore, he is developing algorithms that achieve comprehensive metabolome coverage and are applicable across diverse biospecimens (e.g., plasma, urine, and tissues), thereby increasing data collection efficiency and data throughput in untargeted metabolomics
- He is building and harmonizing large-scale metabolomics and exposome datasets related to human health
- He is integrating precision nutrition and AI-driven modeling to prevent and treat obesity and other metabolic disorders across different life stages
James is currently engaged in his Ph.D. research at Dr. Dean Jones and Young-Mi Go's Clinical Biomarkers Lab, where his focus is on computational metabolomics and Alzheimer's disease. With a long-term vision, James aspires to be a computational omics scientist, bridging interdisciplinary knowledge to elucidate disease mechanisms, precision nutrition, and drug metabolism using AI and machine learning, ultimately promoting optimal human health.
