Jorge  Gonzalez Mejia

I am a PhD student in Epidemiology, and my research interests lie at the intersection of Latinx health, immigrant health, type 2 diabetes, and cardiometabolic outcomes across the lifespan. Specifically, I am interested in the intergenerational psychosocial risk factors of immigrant populations and the role of potential mediators in reducing the risk of diabetes related outcomes.

I completed my BA and MPH at the University of Virginia with a concentration in Research in Practice, and I seek to utilize epidemiological methods to support evidence-based interventions and strategies to reduce barries and improve health promotion, prevention, and compliance for diabetes care in the US and abroad. Prior to Emory, I worked with the Center for Public Health Genomics at UVA Health, supporting genetic risk studies for diabetes for the Virginia PrIMeD Project.
