Mohammed K. Ali is a product of 4 continents. He obtained his medical degree in Cape Town, and subsequently studied at the University of Oxford obtaining master's training in cardiovascular medicine and a degree in global public health. He also completed his MBA and family medicine board certification at Emory.

Since 2008, he has built a portfolio focused on cardiometabolic health (diabetes, obesity, and other related conditions), health care and preventive services, and translation and implementation science. He has served as a scientific consultant/advisor for the CDC's Division of Diabetes Translation since 2010. He has also led or contributed to reports for the World Health Organization, World Bank, and the National Academy of Medicine.
