Michael  O'Toole

Adjunct or Visiting, Health Policy and Management

Michael works at Piedmont Healthcare as Executive Director, Project Management Office (PMO) where he leads large system-wide performance improvement initiatives.  Michael is currently leading the health system’s Lean Transformation program.
 
Prior to joining Piedmont, Michael worked as a Director at WellStar Health System implementing a non-labor expense reduction program that resulted in $24M in cost reductions over 3 years. Michael started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers Consulting and was a Principal Consultant at University HealthSystem Consortium prior to joining WellStar.
 
Michael is a certified Six Sigma black belt through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).  Michael has been a judge for the Illinois Hospital Associations’ annual Quality Excellence Achievement Award and served as a National Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award Examiner in 2011 and 2014.
