Donghai Liang Elected to ISES Board of Directors

Donghai Liang, PhD, MPH, research assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Health at the Emory Rollins School of Public Health, was recently elected as the academic councilor of the board of directors for the International Society of Exposure Science (ISES).
As articulated on its website, ISES “promotes and advances exposure science as it relates to the complex inter-relationships between human populations, communities, ecosystems, wildlife, and chemical, biological, and physical agents, and non-chemical stressors” through interdisciplinary collaborations, conferences, and information sharing. Liang has been an active member of ISES since 2015 and has been the co-chair of the society’s Diversity Committee since 2017.
Liang’s current research focuses on measuring multi-dimensional exposures and elucidating the molecular mechanisms accounting for the complex health responses to environmental mixtures (i.e., traffic-related air pollution and persistent organic pollutants). More recently, he has shifted the majority of his efforts toward incorporating high resolution metabolomics into the investigations on the molecular mechanisms and disease etiology associated with environmental exposures.
He is a faculty member and co-investigator of the Emory HERCULES Exposome Research Center and Emory’s Children’s Health Exposure Analysis Resource Laboratory Hub.
