Ilana Graetz to edit IT issue of The American Journal of Managed Care
Ilana Graetz, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, will serve as the special guest editor of the 9th annual health information technology (IT) issue of The American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC), which will be published in January 2020.
“Health IT applications can promote care safety and quality, connect clinicians with each other and with patients, and increase patient engagement," says Graetz. "I am excited to work with AJMC to highlight exciting new research on health IT.”
Graetz's research leverages health IT to better understand how care is delivered and to improve patient outcomes. As principal investigator and co-investigator on several federally and institutionally funded studies, her research spans multiple aspects of health IT, including data analytics; the role of electronic health records in care quality and coordination; and the design of app-based interventions to improve patient–provider communication, treatment adherence, and outcomes.
She also serves as the principal investigator of two studies funded by the National Cancer Institute aimed at improving outcomes and reducing racial disparities in treatment and outcomes for women with breast cancer.
In 2017, Graetz was the winner of AJMC's Seema S. Sonnad Emerging Leader in Managed Care Research Award, an annual award that recognizes and encourages early career achievements in the field of managed care.
AJMC is currently seeking submissions for its health IT issue. Submission guidelines and additional information can be found here.
