January 24, 2019

Two Biostatistics PhD students were recently recognized for their excellence as leaders and scholars. Congratulations to Yikai Wang, winner of the 2018 Michael Kutner Distinguished Doctoral Student Award, and Jeong Hoon Jang, winner of the 2018 Livingston Fellow Award.

About the awards

The Michael Kutner Distinguished Doctoral Student Award winner is selected based on scholarly accomplishments, significant contributions to the department/school/university, and demonstrated potential for important contributions to the profession. The Livingston Fellow Award recognizes a student with excellent research potential and strong ability to give an impressive public presentation to showcase our PhD program.

In addition to the attributes listed above, to be considered for either award, doctoral students must also have passed the qualifying exams, demonstrated strong leadership skills, and conducted excellent research. Each award recipient will receive a plaque and a $2,000 award.
