WELCOME TO ROLLINS

Welcome! We are thrilled to see your interest in the Rollins School of Public Health!

This academic year will be a critical time for our world and for public health. We face record-setting heat waves, climate disasters, gun violence, racism, deteriorating mental health, newly emerging infections, limitations to reproductive health care, staggering maternal mortality rates, humanitarian crises and conflicts, a distrust in science, and more. The field of public health is ideally set to find and implement solutions to these challenges, and your pursuit of a degree in this field means that you are part of these solutions.

Here at Rollins, you will find researchers collaborating with NASA on air pollution programs; epidemiologists working in epidemiological modeling and wastewater surveillance to prevent the next pandemic; researchers dedicated to improving maternal and reproductive health; behavioral scientists studying the impact of racial and economic disparities on health outcomes; and researchers working to prevent the spread of the world’s deadliest infectious and chronic diseases including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Rollins is truly a global community representing a wide range of lived experiences, perspectives, and gifts. At Rollins, you will find exceptional researchers, students, and academics, but also outstanding human beings who are approachable, empathetic, and kind. This is evidenced not only in the dedication they place in their work, but in their interactions with one another.

This fall, we will also experience a contentious election with issues relevant to health and human rights.  It will be important to stay focused on advancing public health for all through excellence in research, practice, and academics. Core to this vision is a commitment toward diversity, equity, and inclusion, which extends not only to race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or other identities, but also to a diversity of thought and opinion. At Rollins, you will be immersed in a work and learning environment where these values, and graceful dialogue and learning are supported and encouraged.
