Bio

Ava Crawford, BA, BS, is a first-year student in the Epidemiology department at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. She graduated from Gettysburg college with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. At Gettysburg, Ava worked on a research publication studying the paired effect of anti-depressants and rising water temperatures on freshwater organisms. She also volunteered at Transitions Healthcare, a continuing-care facility and was captain of the women’s cross country and track and field teams. Currently, Ava is pursuing a certificate in Data Science at Emory and is working on Dr. Dae-Hee Han’s Nicotine Pouch study as a graduate research assistant at the EPRC. As a graduate research assistant, Ava is responsible for running the behavioral study, monitoring study participants and helping with study design and reevaluation. Her current research interests are disease surveillance, environmental health and hospital acquired infections.
