My name is Erica Hsu, and I am a first year MPH student in Rollins’ Behavioral Social and Health Education Sciences (BSHES) department. In my first semester, I started working as a graduate research assistant at the Emory Prevention Research Center (EPRC) where I support Dr. Cam Escoffery’s HPV vaccine mini grant project. In this role, I assisted in developing an HPV vaccine tool kit, which consists of evidence-based strategies to increase HPV vaccination rates across the patient, provider, and practice levels. Through technical assistance support, we are now collaborating with four local health departments in Southern Georgia to implement these evidence-based strategies to improve HPV vaccine uptake in their communities.
My name is Samiat Ajibola, a current first-year student in the BSHES department. I have always had a passion for health equity on a global scale. So, I wanted my REAL position to not only fit my interests but also challenge my current skillset. For this reason, I joined the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in the Department of Global Health in AIDS and Tuberculosis. I have had the honor of working with health communications and policy that effects people in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asian countries. My main role is to assist with content creation, organize media requests, and show the stories of the people who aim to impact with our health interventions.
